Tom Scoble grew up as an athlete: ski racing, lacrosse, soccer and tennis formed the foundation of his competitive years of junior high through his time at UCLA. Tom was introduced to CrossFit in 2009, but didn’t find a home at a box until March of 2010. Since then he has been hooked. After watching the regionals and the Games this year, Tom’s commitment to CrossFit has lead him to want to share it with others in his community. After successfully completing the CrossFit Level 1 Certification seminar, he was eager to begin sharing it with others.
Tom is also passionate about food and nutrition and does one on one nutritional counseling. He owns a successful landscape construction company, Mother Magnolia, Inc. and loves to spend time with his wife Kathleen and their two boys Champe and Griffin.
Being a fitness and adrenaline junky, Raymond started to get bored with going to the typical “globo gym.” He was in search of something that would challenge and push his mental and physical capacity. Through research, he found CrossFit in November 2010. Since then, CrossFit has changed his outlook on what fitness and training. Raymond has been introduced to new movements and techniques, such as, Olympic lifts and Kettlebells. As he continues his journey into CrossFIt, he has seen and felt an amazing difference in his overall health. Seeing this transformation within himself, he now has a strong desire to share CrossFit with others. He has decided to continue to extend his work in the CrossFit community by becoming a trainer and by pursuing a Physical Therapy Degree.
Max Wilhite, aka Sean Penn, is one of the best and brightest to emerge from the smoke and haze of San Marino High. He ran a blistering 40, crushed it on the grid iron, and now enjoys testing his limits as a CrossFit athlete and trainer. Currently he is the head coach of the Glendale High School freshman football program.
Cody Vella grew up playing competitive sports, Swimming in rivers and hiking the mountains of Humboldt County, CA where he grew up. This lead to him finding a passion for health and fitness at a very young age. Switching from his typical gym routine to CrossFit in early 2008 he found a love for helping others, coaching and competing. In 2010 he relocated to Los Angeles to begin his journey as a CrossFit coach and athlete and hasn’t looked back since.
With years of experience and knowledge in coaching he is committed to helping as many people as possible reach their goals and impact their lives in a positive way.
Marisa found CrossFit, funny enough, through a guy at a bar who overheard her conversation and told her to check it out. Coming off of collegiate rowing at UCSB, personal training, and group fitness classes, she was looking for a faster paced and more diverse workout to take her fitness to the next level. After joining a box and getting started with the Paleo diet Marisa noticed a drastic change in her strength, speed, and body. She got Level 1 certified with one of the coolest crews of the CrossFit elite and brings over a year of coaching experience and 3 years of CrossFit knowledge. With some solid competitions and performances under her belt, Marisa has set her goal to make it to the CrossFit Regionals in 2012. She has thoroughly enjoyed what everyone refers to as the “cult of crossfit” and is thrilled to coach and share the rips, tears, shin scrapes, and sweat.
Taylore was born and raised in northeastern Los Angeles. Growing up she was involved in many activities including horseback riding, rock climbing, soccer and classical ballet. She also swam for three years as a USA Masters swimmer for the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center. Taylore now has fallen in love with Crossfit and Olympic lifting. She has competed in over 6 NLI Crossfit competitions. She has placed top 5 in both division 2 and 3 and placed 1st in the NLI Series in 2014. Taylore is passionate about fitness and loves encouraging and supporting others on their journeys to becoming healthy and fit.
Zach Hancock started training at CrossFit Crown City nearly three years ago. From the beginning Zack was focused on pushing his limits and competing at any and all local CrossFit competitions. He has focused on his Olympic lifting techniques and his work ethic has been stellar. Zack works with a lot of our newcomers who need a lot of support on their foundational movement patterns. He has a passion for working with any and all levels of athletes and creating a dynamic where they feel comfortable and confident taking their fitness to the next level.
J.B. Fitts has been a member of the Crown City community since 2012. From the day he started, the box has been his “home away from home” and the natural progression for someone who has such a passion for Crossfit was to join the Crown City coaching staff. Coaching and motivating members to reach their potential is what it is all about for J.B. Beyond Crossfit, J.B. has a BFA in photography from Art Center College of Design, an MFA in photography from the University of Hartford, so in case you have questions regarding the visual arts, J.B. is the coach to turn to. Recently, he snagged a 2nd place finish at an NLI competition.
